The mission is easy enough until you get to crystal running. I'm doing it H/H and I flag my heros infront of the north west point and cap around like in wiki. My H/H always get overwhelmed near the end and die to the aoe that is searing heat. I can run the crystals just fine. I am trying it as a para primary running sabway + little thom + orion. Is it my hero selection? Positioining? Or am I just doing something wrong?

Don't just use the all flag. Flag each hero seperatly away from each other. Then flag the henchies in the back. Why? Because the enemies will target say your mm first and he will be just by himself. The henchies since they are clumped together won't be targeted first since they are in the back. They will run forward and do there thing but will take them long enough to get close for the aoe skills to be used up.

OR

Take a snare ele or cripshot and have him slow down there runner. Then you proceed to run the crystals and then go over and help your heroes. Just don't kill there crstal runner so that another one won't spawn.

Does the pig trick (killing a pig behind the gate, then necro traversal over, then soloing the bonus) still work?

Don't know if NC still works.
I recently helped two allies out who needed just bonus on HM.
It's easy to solo the bonus guy with an Ineptitude mesmer, even on HM.
Maybe split mission and bonus is the easiest way to do it when NC trick does not work.

As you run crystals back and forth between the two pedestals (north east and north west), you can help fight with your H/H team. Make sure you have the crystal in hand, and that you obviously only use casting skills, Ursan, or other skills that dont require you to drop the crystal. After placing the North west crystal, get the one for the Northeast, but on your way back to it, help with the fighting. Then, a few seconds after the North east tower turns red, run back in and return it to blue. Repeat.....

Also, I like to place my hero hench team back farther away from the center. That way they dont try to chase the foes back in, and they have a smaller amount of foes to deal with. It takes longer, but is safer.
